HUMANITY LESSON

Joseph's company was located in a notable district of the city. Many of the country's most famous companies had offices in this neighborhood.  These companies generally had bosses who were older in terms of age and experience.  Joseph, on the other hand, was much younger compared to this average. He received investment for his business idea while he was still at university. He had developed software for efficient use of human resources and assigning tasks according to employees' talents. Even before he finished school, he took on co-investors in the company he founded.

That's why it seemed interesting to Joseph that people with money and wealth had difficulty finding places to invest.

This is how Joseph's story in the business world began...

While he was looking out of the building's glass-covered facade, thoughts were passing through his mind at the speed of light. As a young man of thirty-three, fifteen years of working life had matured him just in time. Lately, he realized that he didn't actually know the people he had been working for years. He lived in an environment that was extremely insensitive to what was happening in the world and people's real problems. The people around him were like members of a virtual world. They were watching the innocent people who had been bombed continuously for one hundred and fifteen days, as if they were watching a reel video. Normally, he wouldn't pay much attention to people's choices; he would focus on his work, but this time the situation was different.

Last week, his associates asked Joseph to remove his social media posts about innocent people under occupation. One of his partners even jokingly threatened Joseph. They threatened to gather the board of directors and send him out of the company if he continued to openly show his side in this way.

This was a crossroads for Joseph. Because a video that appeared on his screen from social media that same week made his decision easier.

No matter what he did, he could not erase the image from his memory. The moment he closed his eyes, the full HD image was in front of him for many nights. That's why Joseph didn't even go home and planned to spend the night working, but that didn't happen, he couldn't work. Finally, he opened the image that had been engraved in his memory at every moment, and this time he watched it until the end.

What was it about this image that shook Joseph so much?

In the footage, a woman entered the hospital with a broken screen phone in her hand. Worry and hope were visible on her face at the same time. She was showing a photo from her phone to every healthcare worker she encountered. "Have you seen Joseph?" she asked “He is a very beautiful boy with curly hair and white skin.”

Hearing his own name in such an event moved his heart.

Then a doctor entered the frame, trying to calm the woman down, revealing that he was Joseph's father. His operating room attire seemed like a sign that he was unaware of what had happened to his family. Apparently, whatever had happened, it had happened while he was helping people at that hospital.

Witnessing the death of a child with his own name was heavy for Joseph.

The images extended to the building used as a morgue. On the ramp, which had iron railings on one side, Joseph's father stood leaning on the iron railings for a moment. His Knees are knocking. This is how one's knees were weak. When one's knees were weak, it meant that one could not take a step.

His father first identified his son in the white sheet that would become his shroud. Then came a dignified stance. A father sheltering his family. Comforting his wife and young son separately. Being able to stand firm while burning inside. He expresses his sadness and sorrow only to Allah. Afterwards, it was a lesson in humanity.

While watching the video, Joseph fell apart again. He found himself on the terrace used by smokers. The sun had not yet risen. There was no one around at this hour. He turned his face to the unborn sun in the twilight, the coolness of the morning was good... Today was a different day from the days he had spent working overnight in the office Today would be one of the turning points of his career, Joseph had made his decision.

To the death of those children...

The deportation of women, the elderly, the injured, and the wounded...

Bombing of hospitals...

Two million people were left without water, food or even air...

He could not remain silent about the mass murder of a people.

While making his decision, Joseph considered the things he would lose. None of them would be worth the life of a child in Palestine...
